Warranty Terms & Conditions

The following Warranty Terms & Conditions apply to Shikhar Premium Plywood, Block Board and Doors. The warranty shall be valid only when the products are stored, handled, installed and used in accordance with the guidelines specified below.

Product Application

Shikhar Premium Plywood, Block Board and Doors are manufactured for interior applications and should be used only for their intended purpose.

Door Installation & Floor Clearance

A minimum clearance of approximately ½ inch (12–13 mm) must be maintained between the bottom of the door and the finished floor to prevent contact with moisture, water and cleaning agents.

Protection from Moisture and Water

Plywood, Block Board and Doors must not be exposed to continuous water, excessive moisture, dampness or water seepage.

The warranty shall not apply to damage, swelling, warping, delamination or deterioration caused by moisture or dampness originating from walls, floors, plumbing, leakage, seepage or other building-related conditions.

Products stored or used in areas affected by water, excessive moisture, dampness or insect infestation shall not be covered under the warranty.

Furniture Installation & Ventilation

During the installation of furniture such as wardrobes, cupboards, racks and drawers, adequate space must be provided to allow proper air circulation and to prevent direct contact with damp walls or floors.

A minimum clearance of approximately ½ inch should be maintained from the floor and wall wherever applicable. Proper skirting and ventilation arrangements should also be provided in areas where furniture is installed against walls or floors.

Recommended Thickness for Cupboards and Wardrobes

For cupboards and wardrobes, the Company recommends the use of 22 mm or 25 mm Block Board for applications requiring greater rigidity.

The use of 16 mm or 18 mm Plywood in applications where greater structural rigidity is required may result in bending or deflection depending on the design, dimensions, loading and support provided. Claims arising solely from inadequate thickness, improper design, excessive loading or insufficient support shall not be covered under the warranty.

Storage

Plywood and Block Board must never be stored vertically or in a standing position.

Products must be stored horizontally on a clean, dry, level and adequately supported surface. Suitable pallets, wooden battens or supports must be used at an appropriate height to protect the material from direct contact with the floor and moisture.

The supporting arrangement should provide uniform support across the length of the boards to prevent bending, warping or permanent deformation.

Storage-Related Damage

Any bending, warping, deformation or other damage resulting from improper storage, stacking, handling or transportation shall not be considered a manufacturing defect and shall not be covered under the warranty.

Door Frame / Chaukhas

For door installation, the door frame (Chaukhas) must be made from properly 100% seasoned and suitable-quality timber and must be structurally sound and properly installed.

The Company shall not be responsible for defects or damage arising from an unsuitable, defective, improperly seasoned or improperly installed door frame.

Edge Sealing

All exposed or open edges of Plywood and Block Board must be properly sealed to protect the material from moisture.

All four sides of doors must be properly edge-banded or sealed in accordance with the recommended installation practice.

Failure to properly seal exposed edges may result in moisture absorption, swelling, warping or deterioration and shall not be covered under the warranty.

Door Hinges

Each door must be installed using a minimum of four high-quality stainless-steel hinges of suitable load-bearing capacity.

For standard door installation, the recommended arrangement is two hinges near the upper portion of the door, one hinge in the middle and one hinge near the lower portion.

Improper hinge selection, insufficient hinges or improper installation may affect door performance and shall not be considered a manufacturing defect.

Termite, Borer and Insect Protection

The product must be used and maintained in areas free from active termite, borer and other insect infestation.

The warranty shall not apply to damage caused by termites, borers, insects or other biological agents where such infestation is attributable to the building, surrounding environment, furniture, installation conditions or inadequate preventive treatment.

Where required by the Company for assessment of a warranty claim, valid documentation confirming termite, borer and/or relevant preventive treatment issued by an authorized service provider or laboratory may be requested.

Improper Handling, Machining and Modification

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

  • Improper storage, transportation or handling

  • Improper cutting, drilling, routing, grooving or machining

  • Improper installation or workmanship

  • Mechanical, chemical or physical damage

  • Modification or alteration of the product

  • Addition of other materials or components that adversely affect the product

  • Any use contrary to the Company’s recommended application or installation guidelines.

Building-Related and External Damage

The Company shall not be responsible for damage resulting from building movement, structural defects, settlement, wall or floor moisture, leakage, seepage, plumbing issues or any other building-related condition.

Damage caused by external objects, impact, accidents or other external factors shall also not be covered under the warranty.

Natural Disasters

The warranty does not cover damage caused by fire, flood, earthquake, hailstorm, storm, cyclone or other natural disasters or events beyond the Company’s reasonable control.

Customer Negligence or Improper Use

The warranty shall not apply to damage resulting from negligence, misuse, abuse, excessive loading, improper application, unauthorized modification or failure to follow the Company’s recommended storage, installation, maintenance and usage guidelines.

Inspection and Determination of Manufacturing Defects

A warranty claim shall be subject to inspection and technical evaluation by the Company.

Quality inspection and testing conducted by the Company’s authorized technical team or laboratory shall be considered in determining whether the reported issue constitutes a manufacturing defect, subject to applicable standards and the Company’s warranty policy.

The Company’s determination shall be based on the condition of the product, its intended application, installation, storage, handling and other relevant factors.

Claim Period

Any claim relating to an apparent production or manufacturing defect must be reported to the Company within 7 (seven) days from the date of purchase or delivery, whichever is applicable, along with valid proof of purchase.

Claims reported after this period may not be considered, except where the applicable product warranty specifically provides otherwise.

Warranty Applicability

The warranty shall be applicable only when all applicable Terms & Conditions, storage requirements, installation guidelines and usage instructions specified by the Company have been properly followed.

Failure to comply with any material requirement may result in the warranty claim being rejected.

Remedy for Proven Manufacturing Defects

If, following inspection and technical evaluation, a defect is conclusively determined to be a manufacturing defect attributable to the Company, the company shall provide the applicable warranty remedy in accordance with the product-specific warranty policy.

Where specifically stated in the applicable product warranty, compensation for a proven manufacturing defect may be provided up to twice the applicable current product value, subject to the Company’s assessment and applicable warranty conditions.

Such compensation, where applicable, shall be limited to the defective Shikhar Plywood, Block Board or Door and shall not include the cost of other materials, accessories, laminates, veneers, paint, polish, transportation, installation or labour charges unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable warranty policy.

The company reserves the right to review and update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
